[some shelfwear to cloth at bottom edge, otherwise a solid clean book; jacket a little darkened at spine, worn along joints, wrinkling/creasing at top of spine]. (line drawings) INSCRIBED and SIGNED by the author on the half-title page: "To my beloved director / and dearest thanks for / being in that time[?]/ picture! Here I am / with precious Philadelphia / all about me -- / [illegible] - be more faithful. / devotedly / Billie / Oct. 27th /1959." The fluttery-voiced actress's second book of anecdotal memoirs, the existence of which she explains thusly: "There were things I couldn't say in the first book [published ten years earlier] that I want to say here." The "beloved director" was Vincent Sherman, from whose library this book comes; the film on which they'd worked together, THE YOUNG PHILADELPHIANS, had been released earlier in 1959.
