[previous owner's signature on ffep, no other significant wear to book (see notes about annotation); jacket shows light surface wear, has a small closed tear that's been internally tape-repaired at top of front panel]. (B&W and color photographs, facsimiles) Self-congratulatory company history of Seattle's famous department store, a vital part of the community since its founding in 1890, in the aftermath of the Great Seattle Fire. Although its owner at the time of publication, David A. Sabey, rhapsodizes in the book's Foreword about "look[ing] forward to our second century," 'twas not to be: as written in by the book's previous owner at the bottom of the Foreword page (and again on the last page of the text), the store went out of business circa 1993.
