(no dust jacket) [moderate shelfwear, light fraying to cloth at spine corners, spine slightly turned, light browning to page edges, spine cloth faded, gilt lettering on spine almost completely rubbed off, attractive vintage custom bookplate on front pastedown]. Late novel by this prolific Austrian playwright and novelist, whose star flickered again briefly a few years back when Stanley Kubrick adapted one of his slightly earlier works into his strange film "Eyes Wide Shut." This novel, published in German ("Spiel im Morgengrauen") in 1926, was itself filmed by MGM in 1931 with Ramon Novarro.
