Gernsback, S[idney], H.W. Secor and A. Lescarboura Wireless Course in Twenty Lessons New York Experimenter Publishing Co. (c.1921) NO Unstated edition Hardcover Very Good (red buckram with gilt lettering on front cover and spine; no dust jacket) [moderately worn but solid copy, some rubbing/dulling to gilt lettering, but still easily readable; internally quite clean]. (diagrams, figures, line drawings, B&W photos) Everything the aspiring "wireless telegraphy" engineer/operator/aficionado would want to know, packaged in 20 Lessons, a total of 160 pages. The Experimenter Publishing Company, founded by inventor Hugo Gernsback in 1915 ("S. Gernsback" was his brother and partner Sidney), counted "Radio News" (later "Popular Electronics") and the first science-fiction magazine, "Amazing Stories," among its publications. (This particular course appears to have first been published in 1912; this volume bears a 1921 copyright date, but no formal title page or edition statement -- there's just a masthead with the authors' names and photos, and then it jumps right into Lesson 1, "The Principles of Electricity." The most commonly available edition seems to be the 12th, "rewritten and enlarged," issued in 1923.) Lesson 20 is "The History of the Development of Wireless Telegraphy," and includes small portraits of many of the important figures in the field, including Nikola Tesla, Guglielmo Marconi, Lee De Forest, and of course Hugo Gernsback himself.
