[not too much wear, but the spine unfortunately has been repaired/reinforced with (shudder) masking tape]. (American Guide Series) Series (B&W photographs, map) Very scarce entry in the American Guide series. "Nauvoo is one of the most important places associated with the history of the middle west, and indeed of America. In its own right, present-day Nauvoo is exceptionally interesting and picturesque." In the 1840s it was the largest city in Illinois, and notable as the center of Mormonism; among its chief attractions are the Joseph Smith Homestead and the Brigham Young House.
