[light general wear overall, light soiling to page edges, a touch of foxing on endpapers, small yellow stained area at top of rear cover; jacket is heavily worn, missing a few small pieces from spine, miscellaneous other small tears and chips]. INSCRIBED fulsomely to a woman (a colleague or pupil?) whose "earnestness at the keyboard [is] scarcely less intense than mine" and SIGNED by the author, in 1958. Classic treatise on piano technique, still referenced by many musicologists today; cited by one bibliographer as "an important and insightful contribution to piano pedagogy." Uncommon in any edition, more so signed. Schultz was a private piano teacher in Chicago, of considerable reputation. Signed by Author
