1 Chandler, Raymond, and Robert B. Parker Poodle Springs
New York G.P. Putnam's Sons (c.1989) 0-399-13482-4 / 9780399134821 First Edition Hardcover Fine in Near Fine dj Illustrated by (dj) Alfons Kiefer
[nice as-new copy, tight and clean with no discernible wear; jacket shows only the faintest bit of scuffing to rear panel; plenty would call it Fine, but I'm a little too finicky]. "When Raymond Chandler died in 1959, he left behind the first four chapters of a Philip Marlowe thriller. Now, thirty years later, [the book] is published as a full-length work -- because of a most unusual, inspired, and wonderfully successful experiment by the man considered the foremost interpreter of the Chandler tradition." I dunno -- Chandler had famously low regard for most writers working in his "tradition," so you have to wonder if he'd just as soon this sleeping poodle would have remained forever lying.

2 Chandler, Raymond; introduction by Robert B. Parker Raymond Chandler's Unknown Thriller: The Screenplay of Playback [*SIGNED* by Parker]
New York The Mysterious Press (c.1985) 0-89296-128-7 / 9780892961283 First Trade Edition Hardcover Fine in Fine dj Illustrated by (dj design) John Jinks
[nice clean copy, both book and jacket essentially as-new]. INSCRIBED and SIGNED on the ffep by James Pepper (who wrote the Preface and was instrumental in bringing this unproduced screenplay of Chandler's into print) and additionally SIGNED by Robert B. Parker, who in his Introduction calls it "a good screenplay [that] would have made a good film" and has particular praise for "Chandler's dialogue, always pungent and interesting," as well as an "affection for his characters [that] gave Chandler's work a wholeness and credibility that few writers have exceeded and [that] is manifest in this screenplay as much as in any of the novels." Printed here is the second of two drafts completed by Chandler for Universal Pictures, dated March 24, 1948; Chandler later re-worked the story into his last published novel, also called "Playback." Signed by Associated
