(tan decorated buckram; no dust jacket) [moderate shelfwear, bottom corner of front cover bumped and slightly fraying, top corners slightly bumped; mild soiling to covers; binding solid, text clean,previous owner's signature on title page]. (B&W photographs, drawings) Profusely-illustrated treatise on the history and techniques of special effects in the cinema; text in French. Preface (also in French) by Orson Welles. The last section, "Les Films a Trucs," discusses how certain special effects were achieved in KING KONG, THE INVISIBLE MAN, THE THIEF OF BAGDAD, TOPPER, DOCTOR CYCLOPS, THE THREE CABALLEROS, HELLZAPOPPIN, and several other films.
