Sparkes, Boyden Customers' Man New York Frederick A. Stokes Company 1931 2nd printing Hardcover Near Fine in Very Good+ dj Illustrated by (photo dust jacket) [nice bright copy, with just some light dust-soiling to top edge; jacket shows moderate wear at extremities and along top and bottom edges, a few tiny and insignficant tears].G "The Book The N.Y. Stock Exchange Printed Privately," per the dust jacket, this is the Depression-era tale of a young singer "who fell in love -- and needed more money than his music could bring him," so he decided to solve his problem by joining a Wall Street brokerage firm and becoming a "customers' man," learning the techniques of high-pressure salesmanship and putting them to work on his social acquaintances. The tale begins in 1925, and the book was first published in serial form in 1930 -- so that'll give you a pretty good idea of the narrative trajectory. (The author had also co-written, at about the same time, a biography of the famously eccentric and miserly American businesswoman Hetty Green, the so-called "Witch of Wall Street.") Price:
