Burke, J.F. Noah Los Angeles Sherbourne Press Inc. (c.1968) First printing Hardcover Very Good in Very Good dj Illustrated by (dj design) Czeslaw Banasiewicz [clean and solid, light bumping to corners, front cover has a horizontal crease in it, as though someone had once tried (unsuccessfully) to bend the book in half; jacket moderately soiled and a bit edgeworn, with some chipping/dog-earing at spine extremities]. "Filled with unabandoned sex, police brutality, and the spilled blood of the first Hippies ... This is a fiery, outspoken novel of free love, pot smoking, and outrageous acts of violence against the Establishment." (Oh yes, it's set in 1906.) Noah Green, young, red- bearded, hot-blooded college professor, falls in with a blonde belly dancer, is dismissed from the faculty of his midwestern college for "moral turpitude," and heads for New York with the girl. They are soon mixed up with the IWW, all sorts of famous New Yorkers, and a life of sexual excess. All this, and one of the best jacket photos of an author I've ever seen. Price:
