A "nonpartisan novel" (obviously worth mentioning, to an Atlanta-based publisher!) set during the last days of the Civil War. "This is the story of a man and his ship. The man is Wyck Talburt, Southern-born former lieutenant of the United States Navy, the ship is the blockade-runner Wanderer, a gray ghost built to dare the combined might of the North Atlantic Blockading Squadron. ... There are no mansions and no magnolias in [the book]. In it are Southerners who opposed the war and Northerners who profited by it."
