The story of Nora Lake, "a child of the elements who burns with the glowing fire of youth," and who's been tagging along all over Europe with her improvident father, but who underneath it all (of course) really just wants to settle down with a nice man. Along comes just such a guy -- albeit a painter, like her father (uh-oh) -- who "marries her to take her home to the early Dutch house on the Hudson that she asked him to tell her about over and over again." There's something about an ensuing "series of disasters," but apparently it all turns out for the best. [This book is featured in ReadInk's Catalog #2, "Skirts, in Jackets," available upon request.]
