Jesse, F. Tennyson A Pin to See the Peepshow New York St. Martin's Press 1974 (c.1934) 1st U.S. edition Hardcover Very Good+ in Very Good+ dj [good solid copy, top corners bumped and slight creasing at bottom of a few pages at the beginning of the book, but otherwise no significant wear; jacket shows light wear at extremities]. Reprint of a 1934 novel which was "based on the sensational Thompson-Bywaters murder case of 1923, which ended with the conviction and execution of Mrs. [Edith] Thompson and her lover [Frederick Bywaters] for the murder of her husband." The case was a media sensation in England, and the execution of Edith Thompson (one of only 17 women to be hanged in the U.K. during the 20th Century) was a great shock to British society. This edition (indicated as the first U.S. publication on the copyright page) was prompted by the 1973 BBC-TV adaptation of the novel, starring Francesca Annis (pictured on the jacket). Price:
