[moderate edge/corner wear, some minor creasing to covers]. Mass Market PB "Tom Ripley detested murder. Unless it was absolutely necessary. If possible, he preferred someone else to do the dirty work. In this case, someone with a criminal record, who would commit 'two simple murders' for a very generous fee." This one served as the basis for the 1977 Wim Wenders film THE AMERICAN FRIEND, with Dennis Hopper as Tom.

[moderate edgewear, otherwise tight and clean]. Mass Market PB Novel about a man released after serving six years in prison for a crime he didn't commit. Basis for a German film version (1978) directed by Hans W. Geissendorfer. [This series of evocative Penguin photo-covers are my favorite editions by far of Highsmith's books.]

New York Doubleday & Company, Inc. for The Crime Club 1964 NO 1st U.S. edition Hardcover Very Good in Good dj Illustrated by (dj design) Polly Cameron 
(price-clipped) [light shelfwear, a touch of foxing at top of front cover, spine slightly turned, faint musty odor; jacket shows some wear at edges and corners, large chip at top corner of rear panel]. Suspense novel about a young footloose American in Europe who gets involved with a wealthy American businessman who has killed a Greek policemen. According to Highsmith biography Andrew Wilson, the author was asked to cut 32 pages from the book for its American edition -- but he doesn't say why. Thanks for nothing.
