Schneider, Howie Eek & Meek New York Paperback Library (62-104) 1969 1st printing Softcover Near Fine [beautiful copy, tight and clean; appears unread, with only slight edgewear]. Mass Market PB (cartoon drawings) The first of only three book collections of this amazingly long-running comic strip (1965-2000), which achieved the odd distinction, about halfway through its run, of having its main characters morph from mice into humans. At this relatively early stage, though, they were "two merry mice with a satiric point of view all their own," occupying some of the middle ground between "Peanuts" and "Pogo." Charles M. Schulz thought enough of the strip to contribute a Foreword to this volume, in which he states that the strip is "filled with wonderfully quotable gag lines [and] strips which pound forth a certain truth so well that we want everyone to recognize it as we did, so we clip it out and pin it near the water cooler or the time clock for all to share."
