1 Lady [Laura] Troubridge The Story of Leonora
New York Alfred H. King 1931 NO First Edition Hardcover Near Fine in Good dj Illustrated by (dj) M. Elliott
[nice tight copy, light shelfwear to bottom extremities, minor dust-soiling to top edge; jacket age-toned, with small tears and minor paper loss at all corners, small irregular-shaped hole in rear panel, spine a bit mottled]. "The story of a girl whose mother's passionate nature could not bear the thought of her daughter's happiness with a former admirer of her own," set against "a fascinating background of the vanished social conditions of the late Victorian and Edwardian eras." It would be exciting to think (if that's what gets you excited) that this was an overlooked work, with subliminal Lesbian themes, by the Lady Troubridge who was the longtime lover/companion of the notorious Radclyffe Hall -- but alas, it ain't so. Different Lady Troubridge. Who knew? Still and all, not a book you're going to encounter every day of the week.
