McCambridge, Mercedes The Two of Us London Peter Davies 1960 First Edition Hardcover Very Good+ (no dust jacket) [light wear at extremities, spine slightly turned; text and author photo from dust jacket taped to front pastedown and ffep, respectively]. (B&W photo frontispiece) Memoir by the noted actress, although not a career chronicle (she would cover that ground many years later, in her 1981 autobiography "The Quality of Mercy." Although this book touches here and there on her early stage, screen and radio work, it is primarily her account of a long trip she took in 1947 with her then five-year-old son John -- a trip, in her own words, "to get things straightened out. My marriage had fallen apart and nobody thought it was a tragedy. Except me." Mother and son went "by plane and by boat from New York to Miami, the West Indies, England, Ireland, France, Italy, Switzerland, back to London and home to America," experiencing "a crisis here and there, new friends and indelibly memorable moments." Never published in the U.S., and quite scarce. Price:
