Weaver, Tom I Was a Monster Movie Maker: Conversations with 22 SF and Horror Filmmakers Jefferson NC/London McFarland & Company, Inc. (c.2001) 0-7864-1000-0 / 9780786410002 First Edition Hardcover Near Fine (laminated pictorial boards; no dust jacket, as issued) [very nice, as-new copy, with just a small surface-scratch to the rear cover]. (B&W photographs) Despite its ridiculous title (just because somebody has done a handful of films in the genre hardly makes them a "Monster Movie Maker"), this is a valuable collection of interviews with (mostly) obscure but interesting actors, directors and other filmmakers. Most of the interviews, all of which had been previously published in "abridged" (i.e. edited) versions in various magazines, run less than 20 pages; fortunately the longest, at 29 pages, is with the one person out of the 22 who could arguably be called a major creative figure, actor/director/producer Norman Lloyd. The others are: Phil Brown; Booth Colman; Faith Domergue; Michael Forest; Nelson Gidding; Anne Helm; Candace Hilligoss (star of the immortal CARNIVAL OF SOULS); Michael A. Hoey; John Kerr; Phyllis Kirk; Suzanna Leigh; Yvonne Lime; Maureen O'Sullivan; Paul Picerni; Anthony M. Taylor; Shirley Ulmer (wife and collaborator of director Edgar G. Ulmer); Ray Walston (My Favorite Martian!); Joan Weldon; June Wilkinson; William Read Woodfield; Dana Wynter. Price:
