Why Golf?: The Mystery of the Game Revisited, Cullen, Bob
1 Cullen, Bob Why Golf?: The Mystery of the Game Revisited
New York Simon & Schuster (c.2000) 0-684-86722-2 / 9780684867229 First Edition Hardcover Fine in Near Fine dj Illustrated by (dj design) Janet Perr
[nice tight clean copy, as-new but for the slightest bit of wrinkling at top of front jacket panel; NO remainder or other marks]. I love that the only official Library of Congress-suggested subject heading for this book is "Golf -- Psychological aspects." Far as I'm concerned, golf is nothin' BUT psychological aspects.

Out of the Rough, Shaw, Joseph T.
5 Shaw, Joseph T. Out of the Rough
Garden City NY Garden City Publishing Co., Inc. 1937 (c.1934) Reprint Hardcover Near Fine in Near Fine dj
[a very nice copy, minimal wear to book; jacket slightly worn along top edge, with a couple of itsy-bitsy tears, still bright and attractive]. A golf-instructional book in the form of "a delightfully humorous novel about a duffer who went to Scotland to learn how to play golf from that grand old pro, Sandy Macdonald. The 'golf' is pleasantly mixed in with the duffer's love affairs and the friends he makes in the little village of Elie. But in spite of charming distractions the duffer learned how to play golf. So will you." The front-jacket blurb proclaims this to be "the book that has taken five to ten strokes off the game of hundreds of golfers." The author was the legendary editor of "Black Mask" magazine. The photographic dust jacket on this edition is different from that of the first edition, published by Windward House in 1934; both editions are hard to find in nice condition.
