Better Than Laughter [*SIGNED*], Aaron, Chester
1 Aaron, Chester Better Than Laughter [*SIGNED*]
New York Harcourt Brace Jovanovich (c.1972) 015206950X / 9780152069506 First Edition Hardcover Very Good+ in Very Good+ dj Illustrated by (dj design) Hope Meryman Signed by Author
[attractive copy, tight and clean except for some spotting/foxing on the top edge and fore-edge; the jacket shows some mild soiling, with very slight chipping near the top of the spine, and some spotting at the top edge of both flaps]. INSCRIBED and SIGNED by the author in the year of publication; inscription is to a family, one of whose members (possibly a child) has written the first names of the family's six members in bright pink ink below the author's inscription. The author's first book for children, about a couple of brothers who run away from home "in search of a vaguely imagined ideal world with mor time for nature and love and feeling." Tom Sawyer and Holden Caulfield are invoked by the jacket-blurb writer. Signed by Author

Jungle Roundup [*SIGNED*? (see note)], Ames, Robert Andrew
2 Ames, Robert Andrew Jungle Roundup [*SIGNED*? (see note)]
New York Lothrop, Lee & Shepard (c.1959) NO First Edition Hardcover Very Good in Very Good dj Illustrated by (dj) Donald Bolognese Signed by Author
[moderate shelfwear, slight bumping/fraying to bottom corners, top rear corner also lightly bumped; jacket has several small tears and light wear along top edge, minor chipping at bottom of rear panel, a little paper loss at top of spine, spine sunned]. INSCRIBED and SIGNED, apparently by the author, on the ffep. The inscription reads "To _______ / del autor con todo mi respeto[?]," which translates roughly to "with all the respects of the author." The signature reads "Robert R. Horry, alias Ricardo de Enacienda" [sp?]. I have uncovered no known pseudonyms for this author, but everything about this inscription/signature indicates to me that it is, indeed, authorial. The story concerns "Chico, son of a Yaqui princess and an American doctor in Mexico, [who] lives with his Indian chieftain grandfather and is almost old enough to be initiated as a Yaqui warrior of the first rank. But before he finishes his training his American father calls on him for help to save the people of his village, threatened with starvation. And young Prince Chico, in spite of the disapproval of his grandfather, responds to his father's call." Signed by Author
