(price-clipped) [nice clean book, spine a little turned, bottom corners bumped; jacket worn, small pieces missing at corners and along top edge]. Novel about a resurgence of Nazism in post-war Germany. "This book had to be written, as a warning that nazism cannot be legislated from the hearts of the Germans. It is a warning that painstaking efforts must be made to educate modern German youth to the follies of their fathers. [They] must be made to realize their individual guilt and their stake in the future democratization of Germany. It is a warning to us all that it can happen again--anywhere--but can be prevented if we will not repeat the mistakes of the past." Rather timely, I'd say, in light of today's political situation in the U.S. -- and in Germany, for that matter.
