Author Lovett, Margaret Title The Great and Terrible Quest Binding Hardcover Book Condition Very Good+ in Very Good+ dj Edition 2nd printing Publisher New York Holt, Rinehart and Winston 1969 (c.1967) ISBN Number NO Illustrator Illustrated by (dj) Herschel Levit Seller ID 10086 (price-clipped) [spine moderately turned, otherwise a solid clean copy; jacket has one tiny closed tear at top of front panel, a bit of wear at edges and extremities]. Fantasy-adventure about a boy who escapes from the cottage of his wicked and cruel grandfather (that's a switch!), and sets out on the quest of the book's title, although its purpose is unknown to him -- he knows only that "it is something of grave importance which he must do or find," and his only clues are a few lines of a mysterious verse, and a golden ring. He soon joins forces with a white-haired stranger and, disguised as a minstrel and his grandchild, they "travel from village to village, singing and playing for their living, never knowing where or from whom to expect danger, always searching for the meaning of their quest."
