(blue illustrated cloth, stamped with red/yellow/black; no dust jacket) [worn copy but with a solid binding, boards exposed at bottom corners, some light fading/spotting to spine cloth, rubbing to front cover; children's names in pencil on "This book belongs to" page, with additional pencilled gift inscription (in child's hand) on verso of color frontispiece]. (color and B&W illus., color endpapers) Probably a mid-1920s printing. Greene & Hanff state that "copies without advertisements on the verso of the half-title page (which are probably still later [than 1923]) have the Woozy [on the spine] in red and black." This copy, indeed, does not have the advertisement on the verso of the half-title, although it DOES have the five pages of publisher's synopses (for five of the earlier books in the series) in the back of the book, without the announcement on page [343] (omitted from all Reilly & Lee imprints, per G&H); and the Woozy on the spine is in red and black. Sorry, I have to lie down -- I've got a bibliographically-induced headache. [Greene & Hanff (VII), Bibliographia Oziana, revised & enlarged ed., 1988, pp.63-66].
