[very light soiling to top/bottom edges, otherwise a beautiful copy; jacket rubbed/scuffed, a few small tears, moderate edgewear]. (B&W/color photographs, other illus.) Sumptuously-produced book celebrating the saving and restoration of the Ohio Theatre (originally Loew's Ohio) in Columbus, a 2,779-seat baroque movie palace designed by Thomas H. Lamb, which opened in March 1928 and was about to be demolished in 1969 when a preservation effort was launched, culminating in the declaration of the theatre as a National Historic Landmark. This volume, published to celebrate the theatre's Golden Jubilee, includes a wealth of visual and textual information on the theatre's history -- including reproductions of ads, newspaper clippings, vintage photographs and movie posters, etc. -- and the restoration. And it's a great pleasure to report that the Ohio is still going strong today, as home to The Columbus Symphony Orchestra as well as more than 100 cultural events each year, including classical, pop, and jazz concerts, dance, theater, comedy, children's entertainment, and (yes!) classic films.
