[essentially as-new, with just a teensy bump at the bottom right corner of the front cover]. Trade PB (B&W photographs) A survey of the career of the veteran American film director, who directed his first film in 1916 and his last in 1961. Based on a series of interviews with King conducted by David Shepard between 1976 and 1981, and a longer oral history conducted by Ted Perry in 1976, all under the auspices of the DGA's oral history program. King's extensive filmography reveals that every one of his feature films from 1930 until the end of his career (with a single exception) was made at Twentieth Century-Fox (Fox Film Corporation prior to 1934) -- a remarkable demonstration of fealty to a single studio. He also displayed a definite affinity for certain actors -- directing Gregory Peck in six films, for example (including two of his best performances, in TWELVE O'CLOCK HIGH and THE GUNFIGHTER), and Tyrone Power in eleven!
