Novel about a New York City freelance photographer and amateur naturalist, who strikes up an unlikely friendship with a 14-year-old boy who is hiding a wild dog in the subterranean world of New York's storm drains and culverts. The author was a cinematographer and director, whose credits, oddly enough, included several films with "wild dog" elements -- "The Legend of Lobo," "Nikki, Wild Dog of the North" and "Never Cry Wolf." According to the jacket blurb, the film rights to this novel "were purchased by Paramount Pictures before publication," but apparently no film version was ever produced.
