[nice tight clean book; jacket shows a little rubbing/scuffing along bottom edge of front panel, one small tear there as well, spine a bit faded]. "Portrait of a Conned Woman" might be a better title for this "chronicle of one woman's experience--of an unsuspecting woman who was 'taken,' heart and pocketbook, by a con man working, albeit just barely, within the law--and how her programming in a rigidly defined sex role made her the perfect victim, a pushover just waiting to be fleeced." Most of the book takes the form of a long letter from the author to her lawyer, in a diary-like format, giving a detailed account of her victimization at the hands of "C.B." Despite the declaration on the jacket that the author "is not a part of the Women's Lib movement," the book fairly bubbles over with her rage at women's oppression by men. As well it should!
