[spine moderately turned, small tear at top of spine, previous owner's name at top of ffep; jacket has a few small edge-tears, small chip at top of front panel, minor paper loss at spine ends]. "A young couple's hilarious account of their adventures in running a motel" in a small mid-coastal California town, "San Simon." There is a marginal Hollywood angle, in that the husband is a failed screenwriter, and the first few pages of the book talk about the disillusionment and disappointment that led them to abandon Tinseltown for the glories of motel management. The authors' postscript on the rear jacket panel notes that "in broad outline at least, this book is a true story." [A William Brent had a handful of minor screen credits in the 1940s, apparently no obstacle to his career in motel management.]
