[book is tight and clean, with the faintest trace of wear to bottom edge; jacket shows minor wear at top of spine, faint surface wear]. "The book deals with several generations of the family of Gregor Morghann," with episodes set in Nairobi and California -- specifically La Jolla (described as a "utopian fishing village"), where most of the novel takes place. The main character is the grandson of the original Gregor Morghann (also named Gregor), who "early in his life becomes an expert surfer and an excellent underwater photographer. A mysterious lady enters his life and teaches Gregory how to penetrate the SHADOW WORLD, a science of an advanced age." More stuff happens during the Vietnam War era, as "the enigma of the SHADOW WORLD grows." There's an environmental subtext, too, "an obvious lament over the spoiling of the land and the pollution of the ocean." (The jacket copy notes that this book is a sequel to the author's first novel, "Xionflight.")
