[nice clean copy, no discernible wear to book; jacket has a couple of tiny scuffed spots on front panel (very unobtrusive), light wear at spine extremities]. (B&W photographs) INSCRIBED generically ("My best wishes") and SIGNED by the author (Hearst) on the half-title page. In this book, the authors "not only respond to the image created [of the senior Hearst] by [Orson] Welles [in CITIZEN KANE], but also tell the extraordinary story of an American family from the gold-diggings of California to the present Hearst media empire. The remarkable career of the junior Hearst -- to this point overshadowed by that of his larger-than-life father -- is here given its due." (Seems like he omits the part about having cancelled Marion Davies' subscription to the L.A. Examiner the day after his old man died, though. And is it just my imagination, or does that front-jacket photo not have a bit of a "composite" look about it? Were they ever really on that train together, I wonder? And where the heck is Niwot, Colorado, anyway? Examining minds want to know.) ****NOTE that additional postage charges will be assessed for international shipping of this moderately heavy book; if this concerns you, please contact us for a shipping quote before placing your order.**** Signed by Author
