(no dust jacket, as issued) [a solid copy, but with light dampstaining and page-rippling (mostly along the top edge), and some moderate external soiling to covers, all obviously the result of having gotten a little bit damp at some point; there's also a small nick to the front joint; binding fully intact, internally clean]. (B&W photographs, color graphics) 1930 yearbook of the University of Southern California, covering the 1930/1931 academic and sporting activities at the school. As you might imagine, much space is given to the latter; there are accounts (with photographs) of each game of the Trojans' 1930 football season, for instance, climaxing with their 27-0 drubbing at the hands of national champion Notre Dame (which turned out to be the final game coached by Knute Rockne, who died in a plane crash the following March). Extensively illustrated with black-and-white photographs, as well as several gorgeous full-page color illustrations, the entire book has an art deco-ish appearance, incorporating a flying airplane motif (for no particular reason that I can see). All the usual sorts of college activities are covered (journalism, fraternities, drama, etc.), and amongst the thousands of tiny head-shots one occasionally spots a luminary of the future; I was able to pick out actor Ward Bond and writer Morrie (Morris) Ryskind, both members of the Class of 1931, but I left the rest for you to find.
