[solid copy, moderate shelfwear, top edge dust-soiled, tape/newspaper discoloration to pastedowns and endpapers due to supplemental materials (see notes); jacket moderately edgeworn, a few small tears, diagonal crease near bottom of front panel, minor paper loss at spine ends]. INSCRIBED and SIGNED by the author on the ffep; in her inscription, dated in the month of publication (April 1950), she describes the book as "an expose of the music racket, teachers draining pupils of money & time when pupils have nothing to offer." The novel tells the story of a talented singer who "goes through many moral adventures and misadventures as he progresses from attractive young manhood to charming but evil middle age." Affixed by yellowing scotch tape to the front pastedown is a contemporary review of the book; laid in at the rear is a folded copy of a full-page ad for the book from the New York Herald Tribune Book Review (possibly the source of the review as well).
