The author "treats Napoleon as a mythological figure; like a boy in a fairy tale who carries in his heart a dream that is at once his supreme genius and his nemesis." The French title was "Il Etait Une Fois Napolon"; the translator has apparently preserved the original text's "earthy and unique [style], one running with sap and crackling with colorful verbal explosions." You might want to wear a bib.
