[about as nice as you can expect to find a pulp magazine from the 1940s, bright and clean, with a touch of soiling to the rear cover but no chipping or cracking at the spine, and despite the usual "foldover edges" effect due to the covers being slightly larger than the text block, this copy has only a handful of tiny edge-tears and no discernible chipping or paper loss -- quite unusual]. (B&W line drawings) Typical romance pulp magazine of the period, with the full flavor of the enterprise expressed by the titles of the six novellas included herein: "Don't Mention Brides" by Kathryn Keeley; "Run Out on Your Wedding" by Louise Knickmeyer; "Some Day My Prince Will Come" by Marguerite Jacobs; "An Orchid for Her Heart" by Blake Reed; "Love My Dog, Love Me" by Laura Loudon; and "Lady, Blow Your Horn" by Ellen Mayhew. The titles of the two short stories are even better: "Not the Type for a Sailor" and "Furlough Girl." Also includes various brief features -- advice, poetry, etc. -- and ads for insurance, vitamins, whiskey, hotel management schools, even an opportunity to "Learn Meat Cutting, At Home - Spare Time." How would that work, I wonder?
