(no dust jacket) [solid enough as a reading copy, but with considerable soiling/spotting/staining to yellow cloth covers]. Epistolary account of the adventures in Hollywood of Dixie Dugan, introduced in the author's 1928 novel "Show Girl," and said to have been modeled after actress Louise Brooks. By the time this second novel appeared, a D.D. daily newspaper comic-strip version had begun what would eventually be a 37-year run, including comic-book spinoffs. Both "Show Girl" and this book were made into Hollywood films very shortly after their publication (this one as SHOW GIRL IN HOLLYWOOD), with Alice White starring as Dixie in both, and an additional film was produced under the title DIXIE DUGAN by Twentieth Century-Fox in 1943, starring Lois Andrews.
