[no significant wear to book; in addition to the author's inscription, the notation "wedding gift" is written in black marker on the verso of the ffep; the rough-paper jacket shows quite a bit of scuffing and rubbing, minor wear at the corners, and has a 2-inch closed tear at the top rear hinge, and a tiny surface nick near the top of the rear panel]. (B&W photographs) INSCRIBED and SIGNED by the author at the bottom of his printed introduction: "For _______ + _____ / Thanks for the pro / snaps / D Hopper 88." The first published collection of Hopper's photographs, which per his introduction covered only the years from 1961 to 1967, after which "I never carried a camera again." During those years, he pointed his lens at the likes of Andy Warhol, L.A.-based artists (Ed Ruscha, Billy Al Bengston, Robert Irwin, Edward Keinholz, and many others), movie-biz friends and collaborators (Paul Newman, Peter Fonda, John Wayne & Dean Martin, Curtis Harrington, Tuesday Weld, Bill Cosby, Robert Walker Jr., etc.), musicians (Phil Spector, Ike and Tina Turner, The Grateful Dead, The Jefferson Airplane). He also photographed the famous Memphis-to-Montgomery civil rights march, took photos in Mexico, and shot the West Coast "Scene" populated by the likes of Timothy Leary, Allen Ginsberg, Terry Southern, and Michael McClure; the latter has contributed a five-page essay/afterword discussing those days and Hopper's participation in them. Limited to 4,000 copies. ***Additional shipping charges for this heavy book will apply for non-U.S. customers; please inquire before placing your order.*** Signed by Author
