[very nice copy, clean and bright with no discernible wear] (B&W photographs) Program book for the annual festival held at UCLA to highlight their film/TV archive's recent preservation activities, containing program notes for the individual films in the festival, including: OF MICE AND MEN (Lewis Milestone, 1939); BABY DOLL (Elia Kazan, 1956); GOD'S LITTLE ACRE (Anthony Mann, 1958); THE RED KIMONA (Walter Lang, 1925); CLOAK AND DAGGER (Fritz Lang, 1946); WAY OUT WEST (with Laurel & Hardy, 1937); TOPPER (Norman Z. McLeod, 1937); THE BIG COMBO (Joseph H. Lewis, 1955); MACBETH (Orson Welles, 1948); A WALK IN THE SUN (Lewis Milestone, 1946); CHICAGO (Frank Urson, 1928); FACES (John Cassavetes, 1968); and many others. There were also programs devoted to Vitaphone shorts, early western shorts, the work of Kenneth Anger, Johnny Carson before "The Tonight Show," Hearst Metrotone newsreels from 1956, the aborted production of Orson Welles's IT'S ALL TRUE. This year's event was dedicated to film preservationist Robert Gitt, and the program book includes an interview with him and quite a few laudatory full-page ads.
