[nice clean copy with just a trace of shelfwear, tiny nick in cloth at top edge of rear cover; jacket is remarkably fresh-looking despite a few tiny red stains along left edge of front panel, and one short closed tear at the top rear hinge]. INSCRIBED ("To Mark / in appreciation / of sanity") and SIGNED by the author on the ffep. A collection of radio plays -- according to the jacket blurb, the first such collection (by a single writer) to appear in book form -- by "radio's foremost playwright." In addition to the plays themselves, the book contains a Foreword by Lewis H. Titterton of NBC (to whom the book is dedicated); a brief introduction, "On Reading a Radio Play," by Irving Stone; an essay by the author, "The Art of Radio Writing"; and a brief glossary of radio terms. The inscribee was Mark Hellinger, the famous Broadway columnist of the 1920s and early 1930s who began a new career in Hollywood as a writer-producer in 1937, and turned out a number of excellent films before dropping dead at the age of 44 in 1947.
