(no dust jacket) [shelfworn book, a decent reading copy but no more]. A rare foray into fantasy territory by this fantastically prolific Indian-born Welsh novelist, who turned out about two novels a year between 1913 and 1967. She wrote mostly about (and for) young women, and this book is no exception -- except that the young woman in question starts out the book as a frumpy, middle-aged spinster. She meets an eccentric old professor on a train, and he offers her his amazing discovery, a secret "recipe for Youth renewed." Although she at first thinks him quite mad, off to the chemist's she goes, and upon ingesting the resulting elixir is magically transformed into a twentysomething flapper.
