[no discernible wear to book, a nice tight clean copy; jacket shows just a trace of surface rubbing, which essentially disappears inside a new jacket protector (supplied)]. (Filmmakers, No. 59) Series (B&W photographs) INSCRIBED and SIGNED on the ffep: "To Corky / Love / Uncle Joe." (I cannot confirm whether "Uncle Joe" might be Joseph H. Lewis himself, but he was still living when this book was published, so it's certainly a possibility.) A survey of the life and career of the noted B-movie and TV director -- basically an edited version of a long interview, interspersed with commentary and biographical information. Approximately half the book is devoted to a detailed filmography, including the most extensive account available of Lewis's work in television (notably as the most prolific director of THE RIFLEMAN series), which the author feels had been overshadowed by most scholars' focus on such noteworthy Lewis features as GUN CRAZY and THE BIG COMBO.
