(pictorial buckram; no dust jacket) [shelfworn book, hinges cracked but webbing holding well enough, bumping to all extremities, small strip of cloth missing from top of spine, one-time owner's address label at bottom of ffep; it's an ex-library book, with some unfortunate scarring to endpapers from the removal of various labels, but only one overt library marking remaining, a single stamp on the last page of the text that reads "Bulawayo Public Library" (see notes)]. (pen and ink drawings) The most up-to-date how-to-fly book of its time, published a year before the Wright Brothers got off the ground. The book's nearly one hundred illustrations depict a dizzying variety of would-be flying contraptions, while the text gives all kinds of technical specs, reports on test flights, and so on. (And the Bulawayo Public Library, if you must know, was in Rhodesia, which is what the Brits used to call Zimbabwe.)
