[light shelfwear to bottom edges, very slight bumping to several corners, tiny light stain at top edge of front cover; NOTE that the page following the dedication page and preceding the contents page has been torn out, none too neatly; the jacket is edgeworn and lightly rubbed, with chipping along top edge and at spine ends, small tears and a bit of paper loss at all four flap foldover points]. Memoir by a woman who was born into "a wealthy and socially prominent family in pre-World War I Germany," and who was a godchild of Kaiser Wilhelm II (hence her name, no doubt) -- who attended her christening in person and "threw the whole household into turmoil." It's the "record of an adventure-filled life, crowded with color and excitement and set against a background of wealth and glamor." She eventually made it to America, where she settled in Utah and made her living as an artist, while also "championing any kind of lost cause that promises a good fight, and going alone on horseback into inaccessible places."
