[minor bump to bottom right corner, a couple of tiny scrape marks at lower left corner of front cover; internally clean and unmarked, except for a single flower colored in near the end of the book]. Trade PB (cartoon drawings) This "coloring book offers a unique artistic experience for the whole family. It is printed on heavy duty vellum for coloring with ink, watercolor, crayon, colored pencil, felt-tip pen, pastel or acrylic paints. Fascinating, fun and challenging!" (And visually, just about what you'd expect as a by-product of the Summer of Love.) Somewhat revolutionary in its day -- coloring books prior to this were anything but psychedelic -- this was the first book published by the Troubador Press, which had been started as a commercial printing firm eight years earlier; its owner, Mal (Malcolm) Whyte, later founded San Francisco's Cartoon Art Museum. The book was obviously very popular -- note that this is a 15th printing -- but copies today are remarkably scarce; it was just the sort of thing that was probably beneath the notice of most libraries (OCLC records only three copies), and at the time of this listing there are none evident in online commerce, although one can readily find its 1971 follow-up, "Fat Cat's Craft and Coloring Book."
