[mild wear to bottom of book, top rear corner ever-so-slightly bumped; jacket has some wear at corners, and a 2" closed tear and associated wrinkling at the top of the front panel]. Novel centered in a small Arizona town, and populated by truckers, waitresses, and other denizens of the American road. Laid in to this copy is a brief story analyst's report from Walt Disney Productions; the reader allows as how the book "is both sensitive and well-written," but concludes that it's " overall tone is depressingly downbeat, and since it has no strong central story, I can't see anything here for us." Considering the sort of movies that Disney was putting out in 1979 (the year of THE BLACK HOLE), perhaps it's just as well for all of us that they didn't pick this one up.
